Tue 19 May 2026 - PDI Knockout Competition - we are the judges. (ZOOM)
Our Annual fun PDI Knockout Competition. We can submit up to two images per person and these are drawn against each other in pairs. We vote on the better one, which goes through to the next round. We continue this until we reach the final two images. The winner of this final round wins the competition - for which there is a trophy.

Tue 15 Sep 2026 - (Christchurch) Start of Season Meetup
After a summer break, where we hopefully have taken lots of great imagess, this is a chance to meet up together again and discuss what you did. It also gives new members to see what the club is like and to chat to existing members. Any new procedure for the new season will be outlined and ideas exchanged for organising topics for Members Evening and photo outings.

We meet at Christchurch for our first Members' evening and we'd like some ideas of what topics members would like to practice or which ones they have difficulty with.
Tue 29 Sep 2026 - (ZOOM) Speaker No 01: Peter Benson on "London Lights"
Our first speaker this season will be on ZOOM and it is Peter Benson on the topic of "London Lights". With Autumn coming up at this time, it's a great time to go down to London and photograph the illuminated buildings at night time. Peter will describe his journey in taking these images, the techniques he used and the locations he stationed himself at to get these photos. This could be a good basis for organising an evening photographic trip to London.
Mon 5 Oct 2026 - Potters Bar: The Ron Harvey competition for Landscape photography
The Ron Harvey competition is competed for by several local photographic clubs and we ar one of the competing clubs. Whist this is not a normal club evening, please feel free to attend the event at the Potters Bar Photographic Club and support your own club.
Tue 6 Oct 2026 - Christchurch: Print Competition No 1 - Judge : Jonathan Vaines
This is the first print competition of the season and we are delighted to have Jonathan Vaines as our judge.
This will be n Open competition, any subject with no time restrictions. The first half will br colour prints and the second half will be monochrome prints. An email describing the rules of the competition will be issued to members about a week before the competition.
Tue 13 Oct 2026 - Christchurch: Speaker No 2 John Gooday "Sneaking about in the dead of night" (Nature Talk
Our speaker tonight will be John Gooday with a talk entitled "Sneaking about in the Dead of Night". This will be about how he takes nature images in dark conditions. There will be a ew demontrations and perhaps some audience participation. Should be a very interesting talk.
Tue 20 Oct 2026 - Pub Evening at the Cowper Arms in Digswell, next to North Welwyn Station
This is a very popular evening with members to get together to have a chat about anything in general and about photography in particular. The pub does close at 10pm so if you want to come early, please do so.
Tue 27 Oct 2026 - (Christchurch) Members Pratical Night - 02 Topic : TBC
Again another chance for members to do some practical work on a topic that they desire. Group work is recommended.
Tue 3 Nov 2026 - Christchurch : PDI Competition No 01 - Theme "Leading Lines" Judge: Dave Hipperson
The first PDI Competition of the year. The first part of the evening will deal with images of the chosen topic of "Leading Lines". Images must have been taken on or after 01 January 2026 to qualify for this competition. Up to two images can be entered for this. The second part of the evening will deal with any Open images where there is no restriction on the genre of photography or when it was taken.
The judge for this comptition is the ever popular Dave Hipperson.
Tue 10 Nov 2026 - (Zoom) Speaker No 3: Christine Widdall "What are we going to do about AI?"
Tonight's speaker on Zoom will be Christine Widdall on the very important topic of "What are we going to do about AI?". Will it enhance photography/videography, will it detroy club competitions, will it produce convincing photos or judging? Hopefully the talk will open up members to their thought about this topic.

Tue 24 Nov 2026 - (Christchurch) Print Competition No 2 - Judge: Ben Pike
The competition will be split into two halves. The first half will contain only colour print, whereas the second part will have only monochrome prints.
Our judge tonight will be the very popular Ben Pike.
Tue 1 Dec 2026 - (ZOOM): Speaker No 4 James Rushforth "Photographing the Dolomites"
Our Zoom speaker tonight will be James Ruchforth on the topic of "Photographing the Dolomites". This mountain range is one of the mountainous beauty spots in Europe, with its high sharp peaks, upon which are situated many pretty villages, and the abundance of all types of flora.

Joij us for our Christmas Party at the Cowper Arms in Digswell, where there will be lots of food and a quiz competition among various teams. Details about the price of tickets will be announced a few weeks before the event.
Tue 5 Jan 2027 - (ZOOM) Speaker No 5 : Lisa Rendell "Dare to be different"
Our speaker tonight, Lisa Rendell, speaking about "Dare to be different", will be encouraging us to do other genres of photography and od course lots of more creative and abstract work. She is very popular on the photo talk circuit and this should be a refreshing talk for us.

Tonight's competition will be on Zoom and we will have a judge from outside the EAF (due to lack of local EAF judges). The first part of the evening will deal with images under the genre of "Monochrome", which must have been taken since 01 Jan 2026. The second half will be images of an Open nature

Tue 26 Jan 2027 - (ZOOM) Speaker No 6 Geoff Drake "Liverpool Part 2 - Inspiration"
After his successful talk to us last year on "Liverpool", we are inviting Geoff back again to give us more. Here he speaks about the inspiration he finds in Liverpool to do his photography.
Tue 2 Feb 2027 - (Christchurch) PDI Competition No 3: Topic "Water" Judge Ken Payne
Our third PDI competition has a theme of "Water". Images on this theme will be judged in the first half of the evening and images must have been taken on or after 01 Jan 2026.
The second part of the evening judges images of an Open nature and there are no restrictions on when and where they were taken.

The second part of the evening will deal with images of an open nature. There are no restrictions on when or where they were taken.

Tonight's speaker is Matthew Browne giving a talk entitled "Astrophotography Made Simple". It would be great if we could have a Members evening trying out the techniques Matthew will tell us about.

A real social evening where you can meet all the members and have a chat with them - even about photography.

Our PDI Competition No 5 has a theme of "Emotion" and images on this subject will be judged in the first half of the evening. These must have been taken on or after 01 Jan 2026. The second part of the evening will be taken up with the images of an Open nature. There are no restrictions on these Open images.

Roger Hance, a master photographer and great speaker, returns with another talk "All the gear and no idea". I'm sure his wisdom will show through in this talk to alerting us to the most effective way to buy and then use photographic equipment.

One of the most popular competitions of the Year, the Annual PDI of the year is being judged by Martin Patten. Martin has judged our competitions several times and has always given us great advice.
Tue 20 Apr 2027 - (Christchurch) Annual Print Competition Judge: Naomi Saul
Another important end of the year competition, the Annual Print Competition, will take place over one evening. The first part of the competition will covwer colour print, whilst the second part of the evening will deal with monochrome prints. Prints can be of any subject and there is no restriction on the time the image was taken.
Tue 27 Apr 2027 - (Christchurch) Speaker No 9 Daniel Bridge "Close up and Macro Nature Photography"
Tonight's speaker Daniel Bridge will talk about "Close up and Macro Nature Photography", which will be interesting and useful in the lead up to spring when we can go out and practice macro nature photography.

Our final print competition where we put together Panels of 3 prints in the first part of the evening and Panels of 5 in the second part of the evening.

Tue 11 May 2027 - (ZOOM) AGM and Trophy Presentation
The AGM will take place over Zoom. Members are requested to submit suggestions and questions to the chairman before the meeting.
Later there will be the (verbal) presentation of trophies.
Tue 18 May 2027 - (ZOOM) The PDI Knockout competition Judges:All the membership
This is our usual end-of-season knockout PDI competition. Users submit two PDIs each and these are drawn at random against other PDIs in a series of two-image contests. Users on Zoom will vote on which image goes through to the next round and which one gets eliminated. The winning images in the first round will then be pitched against each other in a second round and this gets repeated till we have a final winner.
